CAPE TOWN, May 23, 2014 – Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town (O&M CT) is the 2013 AdReview Agency of the Year.
At last night’s annual awards presented by Tony Koenderman, O&M CT took the overall accolade as well as and saw its Chief Creative Officer, Chris Gotz, named Advertising Achiever of the Year. To complete an exceptional evening O&M CT bagged Large Agency of the Year, Agency’s Choice and the Creative Champions award.
O&M CT can now lay claim to both the AdReview Agency of the Year and the Financial Mail AdFocus Advertising Agency of the Year titles as well as the MarkLives Most-Admired Agency in South Africa as recognized by their peers in the industry blogs’ annual poll. It has also headed the creativity league tables by some distance.
O&M CT Managing Director, Luca Gallarelli, said; “we faced a serious challenge to back up a great 2012 with an even better 2013 but there is a relentless hunger at this agency which is driven by the notion of divine discontent that David Ogilvy spoke about all those years ago – never be satisfied with yesterday’s achievements – and that was the mantra as we targeted and delivered improvement in every area of the business.”
The agency also experienced strong new business growth in the past 12 months including the launch of SAB’s Flying Fish, WeChat, Metropolitan, Careers 24 and News24.
O&M CT won more than 80 creative awards in the year across local and international stages with what Gallarelli describes as “a really satisfying spread across multiple disciplines including traditional creative, digital, effectiveness, direct and PR”.
Much of that creative success is credited to Chris Gotz, whose leadership led the Cape agency to being rated third in Ogilvy & Mather’s worldwide network of more than 450 offices. 2013 saw Gotz produce award-winning work for Stimorol, Volkswagen, Rape Wise and Audi, and, most recently, he was voted as South Africa’s Most-Admired Creative Director on MarkLives.com.
