As the Account Executive you will be responsible for  routine running of the client account and day-to-day contact with the clients, ensuring that the Agency staff and the client are kept informed of any developments on the account at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Preparation of call reports, status reports and job bags after Client contact.
  • Organises regular internal status meetings and external client meetings.
  • Records all client meetings in accurate contact reports, distributed within 24 hours.
  • Maintains a central filing system for all documents and tapes.
  • Checks the quality of the work leaving the Agency. (Video tapes, proofing documents etc.)
  • Assists the Account Manager in anticipating problems before they arise.
  • Develops a reputation with Client and within the Agency for total reliability.
  • Preparation of studio briefs.
  • Signing off Charge Bags.  Any over/under quotes to be referred to the Account Director with explanations.
  • Assists the Account Director in the preparation of major presentations to Client or internal briefs.


  • Keeps well informed on all aspects of the Client’s business.
  • Ensures that Clients regularly receive competitive information, advertising expenditure and activity.
  • Shows enthusiasm for the Client’s business.
  • Answers all Clients’ queries promptly.
  • Ensures that the Client is satisfied with the services rendered and the work done.
  • Works at establishing a good working relationship.


  • Demonstrates drive and commitment to produce outstanding advertising.
  • Has well-informed ideas on what makes great advertising.
  • Provides Creative teams with the necessary products/stimulus to assist in the generation of top quality work.
  • Works with the Creative teams to produce the most relevant presentation materials for new work.


  • Ensuring that the Cost Estimates are prepared and then discussed with the Account Director prior to presenting for Client approval.
  • Reconciles monthly statements against Client’s media and production budgets.
  • This must include checking tear sheets.
  • Responsible for budget control over account(s).
  • Ensures that all WIP can be billed as soon as possible.
  • Checks Clients monthly statement and invoices, and writes the appropriate covering explanatory letter.
  • Chases Client for payment of invoices and clears up invoice queries promptly.
  • Ensures that time sheets are always up to date and given to Finance timeously.

Traffic / Production:

  • Ensures that the work in progress will meet with the set deadlines.  Controls work in progress through meetings with Traffic together with the Account Director, and prepares a progress report for Client and Agency circulation.
  • Assists the Account Manager in the production of all campaigns.
  • Updates the Traffic Controller as soon as any changes happen to the status of the job.
  • Reviews status of all jobs with Traffic on a weekly basis.
  • Starts jobs as soon as required.
  • Regularly closes jobs that are no longer required.
  • Submits timing plans / estimates to client for approval.
  • Gives clear indication of dates by which work is required.
  • Where possible, gives sufficient time for brief to be worked on to standard timings.
  • Immediately informs client of revisions to timing plans/estimates, supplying and gaining approval of supplementary estimates where necessary.
  • Informs Production Manager of media plan for each job.
  • Gains approval of print advertising from concept to final proof stage.
  • Checks quality of all advertising produced on his/her account (e.g. checks spelling and grammatical accuracy of print advertising).


  • Has an understanding of the principles of qualitative/quantitative research.
  • Makes a contribution to the writing of insightful, single-minded briefs.
  • In conjunction with the Planner, oversees the production of stimulus material (mood boards, narrative tapes etc) for research.
  • Makes an active contribution to the promotion of Brand Stewardship amongst clients.
  • Can read and interpret quantitative sales/distribution information.


  •  Liaise with the Media department in preparing media plans for the Client.
  • Understands the basic terminology and application of media planning and buying (e.g. TVR, OTS, etc).
  • Keeps Media team informed of developments with creative work, clients budgets, etc.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in all areas of media.


  • Responsible for the execution and implementation of approved campaigns.
  • Delegates effectively to members of their team/other departments.
