JOHANNESBURG, May 21, 2015 — Ogilvy Public Relations Johannesburg is honoured to have received a Gold Sabre award for LG Mobile Finding the G Spot (Launching the LG G Series Mobile phones in South Africa) in the category Superior Achievement in Brand Building on Tuesday night at the 11th annual EMEA Sabre Awards held in London.
Ogilvy PR Johannesburg’s work was recognised in building brand reputation in a competitive market through innovation and effective engagement for LG Electronics. Joanna Oosthuizen, National Managing Director of Ogilvy PR SA said: “When one of South Africa’s largest circulating weekend newspapers, the Saturday Star, named LG and LG Mobile as one of the top 10 brands in Africa in January 2015; we knew that our efforts to build trust, brand recognition and reputation through powerful and integrated PR and social efforts had taken root.”
The results were not just once off. Research by Millward Brown pointed to a massive jump of 72% awareness of the LG brand. More significantly, research shows an astonishing 97% recall from coverage seen in magazines and newspapers, 90% recall from online reviews and articles and 88% recall of broadcast content on radio and reviews by tech commentators. All this contributed to the consistent share of voice of 34% as measured by the Media Tenor Institute for Media Analysis, well above the recommended 30% effective benchmark.
LG is now on the map. And, PR put it there.

Ogilvy PR also celebrates multi-award wins across the EAME region. Key wins included EAME Digital Consultancy of the Year, for Social@Ogilvy. Led by EAME MD Marshall Manson, this award recognises the impressive growth, innovative work and dedication of Social@Ogilvy’s market teams who have worked tirelessly over the last two years to deliver excellence for their clients.
In recognition of 3 years of growth, award-winning campaigns and innovation our Ogilvy PR team in London won UK Agency of the Year.
Other key Sabre award wins included a Diamond Sabre Research and Planning for Memac Ogilvy’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. This campaign also won the Gold Sabre for best Public Education campaign.
Memac Ogilvy after having two campaigns nominated for best Digital Campaign took home the Gold Sabre for The Autocomplete Truth – UN Women.
Further wins included the Gold Sabre for Consumer Health, won by Ogilvy PR in the Czech Republic and the Gold Sabre for Consumer Electronics won by Ogilvy PR Johannesburg.
In addition, innovative work by Ogilvy PR earned In2 SABREs and Certificates of Excellence for our teams across various categories. These were presented during the second EAME In2 Summit held before the main ceremony.
