JOHANNESBURG, December 2, 2014 – Ogilvy Public Relations (Ogilvy PR) South Africa has been awarded “best turn-around office” at Ogilvy PR’s annual professional achievement awards (PAA). The annual PAA are designed to recognise world-class client and operational excellence from among the global PR’s network of 85 offices.
“The last 12 months was about consolidating a significant period of change and growth for our agency. Critically it comes at a time where the role of integrated and strategy public relations programmes are delivering more than ever before for brands,” said Joanna Oosthuizen, Ogilvy Public Relations South Africa national managing director.
This award highlights the agency’s stellar growth trajectory in the last 12 months, which has seen the business form a strong national leadership structure, launch an Ogilvy Public Relations office in Durban, establish strong content solutions in both Johannesburg and Cape Town and be awarded a number of stellar new business accounts – all while sustaining significant financial and operational performance across the board.
The award comes off the back of tremendous award wins for the agency across awards platforms like the Prism Awards, The Loeries, IPRA’s Stevie Awards and Cannes Lions; making Ogilvy PR arguably the most awarded public relations agency in South Africa. Oosthuizen continued, “For us, a clear focus on building an agency with depth of talent at all levels is bearing fruit. This is made possible through our clients that create the opportunities for us to produce world-class work, but crucially allow us to showcase the power of public relations and social media in delivering real business results for brands.”
Owing to the company’s successes over the past year was the belief that “clients buy our skills and our thinking, not simply our ability to implement”.
Oosthuizen believes the agency’s DNA dictates that it is a premium team of corner office consultants who deeply understand the conversations they seed, the conversations they manage and the conversations they prevent come together to prove why public relations is the specialisation that matters in a changing business world.
“The media and business landscapes are shifting now more than ever. Our team has consistently demonstrated that we are both the agency of the moment in South Africa, and more importantly, the agency of the future,” she said.
Ogilvy PR South Africa now manages over 60 clients and has dedicated specialists working in consumer, corporate, healthcare, technology, public affairs and social media. In addition, the social media and digital PR teams housed in Social@Ogilvy, a practice area of Ogilvy Public Relations, grew its revenue by over 110% in 2013 in Johannesburg and 59% in Cape Town.
“It has been an amazing year for us,” exclaims Oosthuizen. “We were incredibly happy to celebrate with all the other Ogilvy PR offices across the world through the Professional Achievement Awards and it gives us a boost to know we are connected to such an astounding network of creative and skilled PR professionals”.
