Ogilvy & Mather South Africa raises sights at AdReview Awards

JOHANNESBURG, May 27, 2013 – Ogilvy & Mather South Africa (O&M SA) has once again raised the industry benchmark at this year’s AdReview Awards, being acknowledged for its marketing, advertising and public relations competencies, spanning the country’s three local offices.

The group walked away with both Cape and Durban Agency of the Year in recognition of a year filled with a sterling output of creative work. O&M Durban has shown sustained growth over a number of years and also introduced digital into the agency.

For O&M Cape Town, 2012 was the agency’s best creative year ever, garnering 94 local and international awards. “For the past four years we’ve been on a journey to build a digitally-led, integrated organisation fit for the new media age. It’s always rewarding to see hard work pay off,” said O&M CT MD, Gavin Levinsohn.

O&M SA also seized this year’s prestigious Baobab Award for its long-term partnership with South African Breweries (SAB). “The baobab itself is a symbol of longevity, much like our 51 year relationship with SAB. It’s this kind of teamwork that enables innovative creative, such as Carling Black Label’s highly awarded ‘Carling Cup’,” explains Levinsohn.

After winning PR Campaign of the Year at the PRISM Awards for its “KFC Journey of Hope” earlier this year, Ogilvy Public Relations (OPR) continued to ride the wave of success and took home the coveted PR Consultancy of the Year Award.

Joanna Oosthuizen, Managing Director at OPR Johannesburg said, “We are honoured to receive this accolade, which I believe is a true testimony to the dedication, passion and on-going commitment of our teams and the strength of our client relationships. Rest assured we will continue to raise our sights even higher.”

Two clients of O&M Johannesburg were up for Marketer of the Year, those being Cell C CEO, Alan Knott-Craig, and KFC CMO, David Timm. Alan Knott-Craig took the prize in recognition of his inspiring work with campaigns and initiatives like “The 99 Cents” campaign, of which O&M Johannesburg had a hand.

Further recognition was bestowed on O&M SA as it secured the award of Marketing Group of the Year for the second consecutive year. O&M separates itself from the pack with its integrated approach, delivering a complete array of marketing skills across the communication spectrum.

“It’s no surprise to know that we remain at the top of the hill. We pride ourselves on our dedication to creativity, with work that is hailed the world over. In the spirit of Divine Discontent, we will continue to push the boundaries and liberate our talent and the brands we work on. We will never rest on our laurels,” stated Abey Mokgwatsane, Chief Executive Officer, Ogilvy & Mather South Africa.
