Ogilvy & Mather South Africa brings home a number of statues across radio, print and TV at the 36th Annual Loerie Awards
CAPE TOWN, September 22, 2014 — This past weekend, Ogilvy & Mather South Africa (O&M SA) had another triumphant year at the annual Loerie Awards held in the Mother City. The group took home 17 awards including the coveted Grand Prix Loerie, which went to O&M Johannesburg’s “Give Me Strength” radio campaign for Lucozade.
Comprising of three 60” spots – ‘Teleconference’, ‘Kids Party’, and ‘Enrique Concert’ – the “Give Me Strength” campaign focuses on everyday scenarios, where Lucozade saves the day each time. This latest accolade adds to the campaign’s list of international wins, including O&M SA’s first Grand Prix at the 2014 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in June.
O&M SA Chief Creative Officer Chris Gotz says the agency’s Twin Peaks philosophy of creativity and effectiveness underpins all work it produces. “The awards we won tonight are categorical proof that we have a winning formula,” says Gotz.
He believes that winning awards across the various categories is indicative of the agency’s depth in creative talent and integration. “It also bears testimony to our strong relationships with our clients. Without their bravery and ambition, producing the calibre of work that has been showcased this weekend would not have been possible,” concludes Gotz.
In addition to the stellar wins, Matthew Pullen, an Art Director at O&M Cape Town, was one of this year’s two recipients of the Adams & Adams Young Creative Award, which recognises outstanding achievement across the spectrum of brand communications for individuals under the age of 27. This is the second consecutive year that an O&M employee has received this accolade.
To top it off, Neo Mashigo, co-Executive Creative Director of O&M Johannesburg, was also named as the new chairman of the Loerie Awards. He will succeed Xolisa Dyeshana of Joe Public, who has served his two-year term as chairman.
