JOHANNESBURG, 18 January 2011 – Nunu Ntshingila, CEO of Ogilvy South Africa, was appointed to Ogilvy & Mathers worldwide board this week, where she joins 30 of the worlds top advertising and marketing executives as the unique representative from the African continent.
Ntshingila has been an integral part of Ogilvys leadership for the last ten years, and has been CEO of Ogilvy South Africa since 2005. During her many years at Ogilvy, Ntshingila has guided the agencys evolution into a diversified communications group that consistently delivers award-winning and effective work for some of South Africas largest and most well-recognised brands, including SABMiller, Multichoice, Volkswagen of South Africa, KFC, BP and Coca Cola.
In a note that went out to the worldwide Ogilvy network of 450 offices in 120 countries from Shelly Lazarus, Chairman and Miles Young, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Nunu was hailed as an outstanding representative of the opportunities Ogilvy sees in Africa. “Nunu is the fearless and charismatic leader of the South African business and she represents the future of Ogilvy,” Lazarus said after the appointment.
Under Ntshingilas leadership, Ogilvy South Africa has grown from strength to strength, and the rare combination of business savvy and creative innovation that Ntshingila steadfastly leads by has earned her seats on a variety of company and parastatal boards, including Transnet.
Ntshingila was instrumental in the creation of a pan-African joint venture with WPPs Scangroup that promises to extend Ogilvys service offering across the African continent on a previously unimaginable scale. Her confidence in Africa and her optimism about the future of the continent and the role that South Africa has to play in its growth and development is just one of the many attributes that sets her apart from her peers.
