New Talent for Ogilvy & Mather South Africa

JOHANNESBURG, March 19, 2013 — Building brands and talent go hand-in-hand at Ogilvy & Mather South Africa (“O&M SA”). That’s why it has appointed Phyllis Ndlovu as Human Capital Director at O&M SA, Neo Mashigo as co-Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg (“O&M JHB”), and Martin Frank as Executive Creative Director at RedWorks Johannesburg.

O&M SA’s Chief Executive Officer, Abey Mokgwatsane, says he is excited about the new appointments, which affirm the company’s commitment to its brands and building the industry’s talent pool. “Phyllis will be instrumental in helping us identify and nurture new talent in the industry. Martin and Neo will undoubtedly inspire, identify and further unlock creativity in the organisation,” he says.

A trained clinical psychologist, Ndlovu’s work experience includes 13 years in clinical psychology, spanning development and executive coaching, psychotherapy and workshop facilitation. Over the years, she has occupied senior and executive management positions in both government and the private sector, ranging from strategic HR to executive services. Her facilitation of strategic planning workshops equips her with the know-how to balance individual and corporate needs.

Ndlovu is the founding member of Kisima Psychological Services, a company that focuses on maximising human capital output and facilitating health and wellness interventions, among other services. In response to client needs, additional offerings include Organisational Diagnosis, Climate Survey, Strategy Facilitation and Team Building.

Mashigo kicked off his career in the industry at Network BBDO before joining O&M JHB, previously as creative group head. He left the agency to work at SABC as a scriptwriter before moving to Draftfcb where he remained until his return to the O&M JHB fold in February 2013. He has clocked up notable recognition in the industry, winning a New Broom Award at the 2012 Financial Mail Adfocus awards. He is an executive member of the Creative Circle and a member of the Loerie Committee.

With 15 years in retail advertising at agencies such as TBWA, Y&R, Leo Burnett and O&M JHB under his belt, Frank was appointed to head up RedWorks JHB at the end of 2011, responsible for establishing its creative capability. “With the support of the rest of the management team, RedWorks has grown from four people a year ago to 30 people today. Martin’s new appointment will see him strengthening RedWorks’ role in the Group as its adaptation, execution and rollout partner,” says Mokgwatsane.

Mokgwatsane says the new team members will help push the creative boundaries at O&M Johannesburg and engender an environment for flourishing talent. “As an agency that takes both creative and effectiveness seriously, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance and liberate the brands under our wings and enrich brand experiences for all South Africans.”
