JOHANNESBURG, July 2, 2014 – Ogilvy & Mather South Africa has announced the promotion of Joanna Oosthuizen to National Managing Director of Ogilvy Public Relations (Ogilvy PR) South Africa. Oosthuizen currently serves as Managing Director for the Ogilvy PR office in Johannesburg and will continue to report to Abey Mokgwatsane, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather South Africa.
Oosthuizen is an experienced and high-impact leader, who has championed the transformation of a classic PR and reputation consultancy into an offering that includes cutting edge social media practices and a dynamic, responsive content hub. She has built the public relations discipline of O&M South Africa to be one of the country’s leading reputation and communications agencies, while still playing an active role across every client within the business.
Under her exemplary leadership, the Johannesburg office has grown by over 600% in the past three and a half years and, as a result, is now the second largest office in the EAME region, with London being the largest. In addition, Oosthuizen launched the Social@Ogilvy practice in 2012, followed by the Content Factory in Johannesburg, in 2013, and most recently started the Ogilvy PR offering in the O&M Durban office.

Carol Gallarelli, Managing Director of Ogilvy PR Cape Town, will continue to lead the team and drive the Cape Town based office with Oosthuizen’s ongoing support.
