Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg picks up Top Brand Agency of the Year award
JOHANNESBURG, August 16, 2013 – Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg (O&M JHB) won the coveted Robyn Putter Top Brand Agency of the Year award at the annual Sunday Times Top Brands Awards held at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton last night. The award is named after former Ogilvy & Mather South Africa (O&M SA) CEO and Ogilvy Worldwide Board Director who passed away in 2010.
The Sunday Times Top Brands survey analyses the country’s top brands and accurately identifies which of those brands are most loved by South Africans.
O&M JHB’s long-standing and multi-award-winning clients, KFC, Cadbury and DStv excelled at the awards ceremony, winning in their respective categories and contributing to the agency scooping the ultimate accolade at the end of the night.
KFC brought home the top prize in the ‘Fast Food Restaurant’ category and was placed third in the ‘Overall Favourite Brand’ category. For the past 14 years, KFC have been consistently voted as the country’s top fast food restaurant.
Cadbury continue to dominate the consumer category for chocolate by winning first and second for chocolate slabs and Lunch Bar respectively.
DStv was the winner of the best ‘TV Service Providers’ category and ranked third in the ‘Business-to-Business Brand’ category. DStv has kept the African continent entertained at home with a variety of innovative, cutting-edge business news and insights. O&M JHB has more than a 10-year partnership with DStv, producing campaigns such as the DStv Compact campaign for Mavis and the rollout of their most recent product, the DStv Explora.
Ogilvy Public Relations’ key client, Avis, also won in the ‘Business-to-Business award’ in the Car Hire category and was nominated in the ‘B2B Company Most Spontaneously Aware’ Category – where respondents were asked which car rental companies they knew or had heard of, ascertaining which brands are at the top of consumers’ minds.
O&M SA CEO Abey Mokgwatsane says, “Winning the Robyn Putter award is an incredible honour and is extremely close to our hearts. Robyn’s belief in the power of creativity and imagination to engage with consumers will always inspire us,” says Mokgwatsane.
O&M JHB Client Service Director Sharleen James adds, “These wins demonstrate Ogilvy’s twin peak approach of strategic effectiveness and creative excellence. We are honoured to work with these clients and congratulate them for their sterling work and brand commitment over the years.”
