Ogilvy & Mather South Africa win 5 Cannes Lions, including Gold

Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town (O&M CT) returned from the 60th Anniversary Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2013 with 4 Lions: one Bronze, two Silver and a rare coveted Gold Lion in the Branded Content category for client Cape Town Tourism.

“Given that 36,000 pieces of work were entered into Cannes this year, just being shortlisted was an achievement. Winning any metal was certainly an accomplishment, so being awarded a Gold Lion is very exciting,” explained Chris Gotz, Executive Creative Director at O&M CT.

It is the second year in a row that O&M CT received a Gold Lion at Cannes for Branded Content, following the 2012 win for Carling Black Label’s highly awarded ‘Be The Coach’ campaign.

“Winning in that category is more important to us than winning in a traditional advertising category. One of the key themes, if not the key theme at Cannes 2013, was the necessary shift agencies need to make from being providers of interruptive advertising to generators and curators of content,” Levinsohn continued.
